Don’t Touch

“…When it lands on your shoulder,
flexes its wings, uncurls its tongue,
it’s origami come to life…”

Don’t Touch

Don’t touch anything that can break
on a whisper. The trail end
of your breath could snap its neck.

When it flies it skips off smiles.

When it lands on your shoulder, flexes
its wings, uncurls its tongue,
it’s origami come to life.

When it feeds watch how

that butterfly proboscis extends
within the nectary without breaking
the flower.
